It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Gomez, a caring mother, a beloved daughter, cherished friend, and steadfast protector. Born on November 6, 1968, in the state of Texas, Melissa spent her joyful years in Colorado with an unwavering spirit and a heart full of love. She dedicated her life to serving others, working as a security guard for 17 years, where her straightforward nature and no-nonsense attitude made a lasting impression on all who knew her. A true embodiment of the saying, “Life is too short, you are not promised tomorrow,” Melissa faced each day with an open heart and infectious humor.
Melissa’s vibrant personality was a beacon of light for her family and friends. Known for being a straight shooter, she was never one to sugar-coat a situation; her honesty was both refreshing and endearing. Despite her candid nature, she radiated warmth and had a fun-loving spirit that brought joy to those around her. Her laughter could fill a room, and her good sense of humor was treasured by all.
Her passions painted the canvas of her life. Melissa had a profound love for big animatronics and took great delight in decorating for the holidays, turning every gathering into a festive celebration filled with warmth and cheer. She cherished the moments spent fly fishing and camping with her family, especially in Estes Park—the place she held dear to her heart. Those memories created bonds that will forever remain unbroken.
Melissa was a fierce fighter, facing the battle against breast cancer with unimaginable strength for a decade. Her courage through this arduous journey served as an inspiration to those around her. She showed us all what it meant to fight, to hold onto love, and to appreciate the beauty in every fleeting moment.
On January 21, 2026, Melissa departed this world in Westminster, leaving behind a legacy of sincerity, humor, and resilience. She was proceeded by her Father Manuel Gomez and her god daughter Alyssa Abeyta. Those left behind are her children- Nadia Gomez (Husband Manny) Tanisha Gomez, Kayla Gomez (Husband Santiago), Dominic Gomez and her grandchildren- Leilani Gomez, Liko Gomez, Nico Gomez, Leyla Gomez, Aleyah Nieblas, Meko Gomez, Makaio Gomez and Isaiah Nieblas.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the memories of those whose lives she has touched. As we remember Melissa, let us hold close her wonderful attributes: her straightforward demeanor, her fun-loving essence, and her enduring love for life and family. Her light may have dimmed on this earth, but it will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her.
