Margery Ann (Lentz) Shepherd was born in Del Norte, Colorado, and grew up on a small farm in Monte Vista, Colorado. Born March 8, 1942, she graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, 17 miles from her childhood home. She earned a BA and Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She taught for 29 years in Adams County District 50 Schools. She met Douglas Kent Shepherd through a mutual teacher friend, and they were married for 39 years. Matha, their daughter, is named after their friend, Matha Wassman. A memorial service will be announced at a future date.
