Margaret Ellen
Wilson
August 10, 1929 – December 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce Margaret Ellen Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 19, 2025, at the age of 96 in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on August 10, 1929, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Margaret carved a remarkable life filled with education, humor, music and love, behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Margaret invested over 30 years in her career as a speech pathologist and elementary educator, culminating in her retirement in 1996 from Jefferson County Public Schools. Her educational journey began at Texas Women's College, where she achieved her undergraduate degree, followed by her master's degrees earned through Adams State University and Colorado Christian University. Her dedication to her students was a reflection of her own love for learning, a joy she passed on to her five daughters: Ann, Amy, Aggie, Abby, and Andrea. She lovingly referred to them as her "gems," each a shining example of the values she instilled in them.
Beyond the classroom, Margaret brought laughter and light through her vibrant personality and great sense of humor. She had an affinity for clever wordplay and a fondness for a good limerick, often using her gift for words in her poetry and performances. With a wonderful soprano singing voice, Margaret dedicated her time to volunteering with various choir and acapella groups, bringing joy to both herself and her community.
Her life was enriched by adventures with her late partner, Glenn Lochire, who preceded her in death. Together, they cherished countless moments, cultivating a partnership steeped in love and shared experiences. Margaret is also mourned by her loving family, which includes her daughters, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, and an impressive 22 great-grandchildren. Each of these individuals carries a piece of Margaret's spirit forward, a testament to her nurturing nature and deep commitment to family.
Margaret Ellen Wilson's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and passion for education. Her memory will be celebrated among those fortunate enough to have shared in her journey.
