Marcia Kaye Schroder was born on July 25th, 1942 to Frances (Aubert) and Harry Herrmann in Hugo, Colorado. She has one older sister, Lois. She loved going to Aunt Louise and Uncle Ray's farm and doing chores, her payment was fresh churned butter. She went to Hugo schools and graduated as a Pirate in 1960. She moved to Denver and began working as a receptionist, the job she always saw herself doing. In 1965 she went out with friends, with no intention of dating and met the love of her life, Lavern “Pete” Schroder. They were wed on October 13th, 1968 and celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
They would drive late into the night comforting a colicky baby and found the lot they would build their life on in Arvada. She left the workforce when Devin was a baby and was a stay at home mom until the early 90’s. She worked for a microfiche company until she was offered a job in the livestock office at the National Western Stock Show. She finished her working career as the head receptionist for the Stock Show. It was often said that people would call the office just to hear a friendly voice on a hard day.
Their marriage was blessed with three children, Devin, Stacia and Brenda. She loved to encourage her children to be creative, to make or build whatever inspired them, even if it was splatter paint all over the linoleum. She also spent most Saturdays watching soccer games followed by hunting down the perfect yard sale. She was a gifted homemaker and loving mother.
She was later gifted 3 children in-law. Monique (Devin), Lincoln (Stacia), and Jason (Brenda). She was also blessed with eight grandchildren, Lauryn, Allison, Catherine, Kevin, Alexander, Justyn, Jackson and Elijah. She always believed that her home should be a safe haven for all, through this belief she gained many bonus children and grandchildren. They built a foundation of love and kindness for all. Marcia truly never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Harry Herrmann, husband Lavern “Pete” Schroder, Brother in-law Robert “Archie” Archuleta, Sister in-law Janet and Husband Sam Kerr, brother in-law Dewitt Schroder, brother in-law Gailard and wife Joan, sister in-law Eileen and husband Wilbur Gewecke, brother in-law Lawayne Schroder, daughter in-law Monique, 2 nephews and 1 great nephew.
She is survived by her children Devin, Stacia (Lincoln), and Brenda (Jason). 8 grandchildren, Lauryn, Allison, Catherine, Kevin, Alexander, Justyn, Jackson, and Elijah. Sister Lois, sisters-in-law, Vearl and Edie. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Plus, many bonus kids and grandkids.
There will be a luncheon at Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr St. Arvada, Colorado 80004, on Tuesday June 23rd. Please join the family for fellowship and memories from 1 to 3.
