Obituary

John Raine was a wonderful husband, an amazing father, and a dedicated servant to his community. Throughout his life he brought joy to his friends and family, and anyone whose lives he touched, by being a kind and genuine servant and support. John Raine, age 77, of Westminster, Colorado, died peacefully in his home from colon cancer, on March 13, 2026.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1948 to John Miller Raine Sr. and Ruth Curry Raine, where he was raised with his brother and sister. He attended Lovett High School in Atlanta before studying history/prelaw at University of Georgia. After deciding law school was not for him, he joined several friends in moving to Colorado to see what this “skiing thing” was all about. He then went on to take on various careers in the restaurant business and the stock market before starting his own garage door installation business, The Garage Door Guy, that through his hard work and dedication supported his family for decades.

John met the love of his life, Torri Boyden, in 1984 through Rocky Mountain Christian Singles church. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on October 3, 1986. They have one daughter, Ashley, who married Ryan Scott in 2018. His daughter and son-in-law meant the world to him.

His favorite hobbies throughout his life included spending time with his family, snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, camping, bicycling, riding his motorcycle, watching UGA and Broncos football, enjoying classical music concerts, traveling to as many places as he could make time for, and volunteering at his church.

John’s greatest passion was to follow Jesus in every detail of his life and was an active and devoted member of Redeemer Temple. One of his greatest joys was to be able to devote his time and energy to various ministries, including missions' trips (Brazil and an Indian Reservation), cooking for the men’s and pastor’s breakfasts, heading up Operation Christmas Child, ministering to those in assisted living, serving on the widows’ ministry and on the board of New Commandment Men’s Ministries. He was always looking for ways to serve in any and every capacity.

John will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband and father. We will miss him every day but are confident that he is now safe in the arms of the One who loved him the most. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother George. He is survived by his wife Torri, his daughter Ashley, his son-in-law Ryan, his sister Lamar Raine-Eliades, and his stepsister Jacqueline Campbell.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Redeemer Temple, 3701 W. 64th Ave., Arvada, CO 80003 on March 28, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. The video will be broadcast live on the RedeemerTempleCO YouTube channel.

Any flowers or contributions in his memory may be made to Redeemer Temple at the address above.
