Jacqueline Dorthy Smith, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated member of her community, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Born on June 27, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jacqueline lived a life marked by steadfast devotion to her family, her passions, and her work.
Jacqueline graduated from Lakewood High School in 1959, a milestone that marked the beginning of many years of hard work and accomplishment. Alongside her husband, James L. Smith, she co-owned and managed a diesel repair business. Their partnership was not only a business venture but also a testament to their shared commitment and teamwork, traits that defined much of Jacqueline’s life.
An avid gardener, Jacqueline found joy and solace in tending to her plants, cultivating her garden with the same care and attention that she applied to every aspect of her life. She was also a passionate supporter of the Denver Broncos, cherishing the camaraderie and excitement that came with being part of the team’s loyal fanbase.
Jacqueline's family was the cornerstone of her existence. She is survived by her loving husband, James L. Smith; her children, Karla Hanrahan (Chris) and Mark Smith (Emily); and her beloved grandchildren, Kaleigh Koch (Kyle), Kelly Hanrahan, Jarrett Crezee, and Devin Smith. Their lives were enriched by Jacqueline's unwavering love and guidance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Marks and Annabell Gellispie, who undoubtedly instilled in her the values and strength that shaped her character.
Jacqueline Dorthy Smith’s legacy is one of dedication, love, and resilience. She will be missed greatly.
