Gerald "Zeke" Carter

Gerald “Zeke” Carter, a man full of laughter and life, passed away from cancer on June 22, 2025. Born on February 20, 1951, in McPherson, Kansas, Zeke left a legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him.

Zeke honorably served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1977. He was an accomplished welder and machinist, where his notable contributions included work on the Mars Rover, creations of the processing machines for aluminum cans, and other projects that we can only imagine! He took immense pride in his craft, knowing that he was playing a part in propelling human exploration and everyday conveniences alike.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Zeke was dedicated to his family and enjoying his hobbies. He was involved in coaching his children’s sports teams, made time to attend their school and sporting events, and was always proud of them. Zeke always took the time to enjoy the great outdoors—whether it was camping or reeling in a big, or little, fish. He had a knack for making people laugh, with a quick wit and a store of jokes at the ready. He enjoyed pool, darts and family gatherings, which often ended with karaoke and lots of laughter. Zeke loved playing baseball from an early age. He was on a traveling Air Force baseball team and went on to play in various adult leagues. When baseball season was over, he enjoyed bowling in various leagues and even bowled two perfect 300 games!

Zeke is survived by his ‘lovely bride’ of 51 years, Dawn, and their children, Cory (Jacqui) Carter and Chelsea (Jason) Baldwin. Zeke was a proud grandfather to Caden and Delu. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Donald Carter, Fred (Vicki) Carter, Sandy (Rick) Meyers, Cindy (Brian) Bengtson and Michael (Judy) Linn, along with many other cherished relatives.

Though Zeke has joined his parents, Edna and Don Carter, and sister-in-law, Annie, his spirit will undoubtedly echo through the laughter and memories he created during his time on this earth. So, here’s to Zeke---may we remember his sense of humor, his love of fishing and sports, and the many wonderful times shared. You truly were the life of the party and you’ll be missed more than words can say. Cheers to you, Zeke!
