George Walter Hoff was born on February 9, 1927, in Red Oak, South Carolina. He passed away on September 3, 2016. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1949. While serving in Germany, Mr. Hoff met and married Heide Hauk. Before George and Heide left Germany their daughter Barbara was born. They returned to Mr. Hoff’s home in Cottageville, South Carolina, but after less than a year left for Denver, Colorado, where Mr. Hoff lived until his death. Mr. Hoff opened and operated Hoff Transmissions for a number of years. The rest of his professional career he worked as a mechanic, specializing on the maintenance of large vehicles for the City of Denver. Mr. Hoff is survived by his daughter Barbara Horowitz, and another daughter, Angela Roy, who he had very late in life. He also is survived by two granddaughters, four great grandchildren, a brother, sister, nieces, great nieces and great nephews. Services for Mr. Hoff will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 1:00 PM, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO staging area “A” .
