In Loving Memory of Tony Martinez
We remember a life of quiet grace, unwavering strength, and warm kindness—a man who leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Tony Martinez was born on May 17, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Anofia Linares and Eustacio Martinez. At only eight years old, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of both of his parents and was placed in an orphanage. At the age of fifteen, he ran away and was eventually reunited with his family—his sisters Lola, Joey, Shirley, Tessie, and Jenny, and his brothers Paul, Jerry, and Gilbert.
On March 16, 1964, Tony married the love of his life, Angel Delfie Martinez. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. The loss of his beloved Angel in August 2020 left a hole in his heart that could never be filled. Today, we find comfort knowing they are together again.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angel Delfie Martinez; his son, Tony Martinez; his great-grandsons, Tony and Gino; and his son-in-law, Justin Polcyn.
He is survived by his sons, Fred "Hoover" Nixon and Jimmy Martinez; and his daughters, Debbie Cortez, Angel Perez, and Shirley Martinez.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Manuelito, Concepcion, Malo, Delfie, Maria, Santiago, Charlene, Dominick, Ronald, Martino, Marita, Vanessa, Jimmy, Jonathan, and Alexis, and was blessed with more than 60 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness and generosity.
Tony was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He believed in hard work, loyalty, and taking care of the people he loved. His family was his greatest pride, and he made everyone around him feel safe, welcomed, and loved. He was our hero, our protector, our teacher, and our rock.
Even after enduring unimaginable hardships throughout his life, Tony's strength never wavered. He showed us what perseverance, forgiveness, and unconditional love truly look like. His wisdom, humor, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Dad, thank you for every sacrifice you made, every lesson you taught us, every hug, every laugh, and every act of love. We will carry your memory in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Though our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing you are reunited with Mom and all those who went before you. We can picture your smile again, free from pain and wrapped in the love you longed for.
Rest in peace, Dad. You were our hero, our rock, and our greatest blessing. We love you beyond words, and we will miss you every single day. Until we meet again I love you.
