Fidel Medina, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Henderson, Colorado. Born on May 5, 1942, in Mora, New Mexico, Fidel led a life that was rich in both experiences and relationships, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Fidel dedicated nearly 30 years of his working life as a bus driver for RTD in Denver, where his punctuality and strong opinions were well known among his passengers and colleagues. His career not only provided for his family but also allowed him to create lasting memories with his grandchildren. Many will recall how he would pick them up from school, playfully instructing them to "put some pennies in and pretend they're tokens." These moments were precious to him, as were the countless afternoons spent watching them ride motorcycles and their family adventures on horseback at the ranch.

Fidel’s personality was unforgettable. He was opinionated and frank, never shying away from speaking his mind. His family often lovingly teased him about his habit of double-dipping his tortilla into the beans as they cooked—a small but telling example of his humorous and genuine nature. Fidel always had a saying ready, but one in particular will forever live on in his family’s hearts. Before getting up from his recliner, he would say, “Wait, let me gather my marbles.” It’s a phrase his family will always cherish, a reminder of the wit and character that made Fidel so special.

An enthusiast of the simple pleasures in life, Fidel had a passion for visiting the flea market, where he even ran a shop selling western items and motorcycle parts. He took immense pride in his culinary skills as well, famously stepping into the role of 'Mr. Betty Crocker' by baking cakes and brownies for family gatherings. Yet, perhaps the most significant joy came when he could simply sit on the porch with his beloved wife, Honey, enjoying the rain—a quiet moment that spoke volumes of their love.

Fidel is survived by his loving children, Rochelle Medina, Regina (Jess) Rodriguez, and Joseph Medina. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren, Danielle (Joseph) Maldonado, Rocky Gallegos, Jess Rodriguez, and Marcus Rodriguez, as well as his great-grandchildren, Mariah Maldonado and Alyssa Maldonado. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Pricilla (Honey) Medina, with whom he shared nearly 70 years of marriage, and by his son, Mark Medina.
