Clarlee Marie Harris Stevens, a cherished soul who lit up the lives of everyone around her, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Thornton, Colorado. Born on October 11, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, Clarlee was a woman of remarkable warmth and wit, whose spirit touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
From a young age, Clarlee exhibited a thirst for knowledge and adventure that would shape her vibrant life. She attended North Torrance High School, where she graduated in 1962, before furthering her education at California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo, graduating with the class of 1966. Her dedication did not stop there; Clarlee channeled her love for people into a fulfilling career working in various department stores in California and New York's clothing department, where her vibrant personality shone through before becoming a full-time mother.
However, it was her beautiful love story that would define much of her life. She met her beloved husband, George Stevens, during a blind date in 1963—a chance encounter she agreed to because she humorously believed, “he had to be rich to fly here from Colorado.” Their romance blossomed over the years, and they were joyously united in marriage in 1970. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter, raising four wonderful children—Cullen, Cameron, Donna, and Barbara Stevens—who were her pride and joy.
Clarlee’s talent for connecting with others didn’t end with her family; she was known for her unique brand of humor that never ceased to surprise and delight those around her. With a personality that was funny yet kind-hearted, she had an unmatched ability to keep people on their toes, always ready to share a laugh or lend a helping hand. She was involved in her community and church, ensuring that she made a significant impact on those around her.
An adventurous spirit, her embraced travel, always accompanied by her loving family in their old 1969 VW bus. Whether exploring breathtaking National Parks across America or venturing to destinations beyond borders to Canada, she found joy in each adventure, creating lasting memories together.
In her wake, Clarlee leaves behind many who will carry her spirit in their hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, George Stevens, her children Cullen, Cameron, Donna, and Barbara, and her beloved siblings Greg Harris and Robin Harris, along with Robin's husband, Rick. She also leaves behind brother-in-law Mark Stevens and sister-in-law Lorraine Stevens, as well as many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her presence will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. As she reunites with her late grandparents, parents Clarke and Willa Lee Harris, in-laws George II and Harriett Stevens, brother-in-law Jim Stevens, sister-in-law Constance Harris, and beloved aunts and uncles, we celebrate her life—a life rich with love, laughter, and adventure.
A memorial service to honor Clarlee's memory will be held on August 23, 2025, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Thornton, Colorado, providing a place for family and friends to pay tribute to a truly remarkable woman who was a good mom, a faithful friend, and an inspiring member of her community.
Though Clarlee is no longer with us, her legacy of kindness, humor, and love will continue to shine bright in our hearts forever.
