Clarion DC Owens was a loving mother to Ryan Wade Owens, 49 (Dee Vigil); Rachel Mayfield, 45 (Jacob); Jezette Owens, 36; Clarence J. G. Owens, 33 (Allondra) and a host of grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Clarion was born to Clarence D. Owens of Texarkana, Texas and Evelyn P. Fleming of Collins, Mississippi, in 1954 here in Denver, Colorado. She attended Columbine Elementary, Baker Junior High, and graduated from West High School in 1972 as the valedictorian. Clarion attended Colorado State University in Greeley for one semester before proudly joining the United States Navy. During the Vietnam Era war, Clarion was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii where she served for 3 years then was discharged with honors. Clarion loved her country and continued to serve her nation by joining the National Park Service where she was federally employed in Wyoming at Yellowstone National Park. She then went on to work at Ball Aerospace in Texas before returning to Denver to foster her family values.
Clarion was fondly referred to as DC amongst her closet family and friends. She was also a loving sister who is preceded in death by her brothers Eugene Fleming of Louisiana and Harry Dale of Denver; and their sister Clarice Faye Strother of Denver. They are survived by their youngest brother Maurice Anderson of Denver.
Clarion was fond of many past times and known for her many business endeavors. Some to include owning and operating and ice cream truck for 20 years; daycare owner operator; care giver and hospice nurse; and entrepreneur. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science from the Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. All who knew her would know that DC was vibrant, energetic, funny, talented, and beautiful. She was the light of any room she walked in. She could talk to anybody and stand out in any crowd. Any and all who knew DC would stay that she was in fact a lovely woman. For she understood the assignment and stayed the mission. And her mission statement in life never changed: KEEP IT MOVING!
We love our mom, our sister, our aunt, our grandmother, our friend, our mother-in-law, our care giver, our nurse, our daughter, our guide to the other side.
Clarion was courageous in life, charming in character, loving in spirit, and resourceful in nature. She loved cooking, parties, art, and most of all good food. She lived a full and vibrant life. She did life her way. And her way was GREAT! She is respected and will be honored for generations to come as our loving mother and my personal hero.
