July 9, 1939 - February 16, 2016  Billy Joe Young, 76, passed away Tuesday, February 16 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.  A memorial for Bill will be held Saturday, February 27 at 11:00am at Whispering Pines Church, 73 Gross Dam Road, Golden, Colorado (Coal Creek Canyon).   Bill was born in Swain, Arkansas on July 9, 1939 to Rev. Claude and Bertie Young. The family moved to Pueblo when Bill was young.  Bill attended Central High School where he was recognized for class leadership, athletics, and music.  Bill served for many years as a Police Officer and then a Fire Fighter for the City of Pueblo.  Bill had a lifetime love of music.  He was an accomplished singer and recorded a gospel album.  He and his wife of 56 years, Judy, lived in Salt Lake City for a number of years before moving to the Golden, Colorado area two years ago.    Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Young, three sons, Craig, Kevin and Brian and their families, and two brothers, Jim and Ford and their families.
