Barbara Ann Barnes, age 77, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. She was born on July 28, 1948, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Robert Allen Barnes and Dorothy Mae Barnes (née Casbon).
Barb was known for her sharp sense of humor and dedication to her pets. She cherished the simple beauty of butterflies, flowers, and plants, and her quick wit was a defining feature that left a lasting impression on those who met her, even if only briefly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Suzy Kralovansky; and her daughters, Wahna “Miki” Calderon and Roberta Mae “Bobbi” Inks. She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Holt of Arvada, Colorado; her sister, Jody Bennett of Holiday, Florida; and grandchildren, Charlie Calderon, Cody Calderon, and Sedona Berg.
Some of life’s strongest bonds are forged not by blood, but by love. She is also survived by her best friend, Katie Berkley; her honorary son, Cheeto (Tom Chiodo); her dear friend, Don Rude; and her beloved cats, Kitty-DAMNIT!!! and Steinkee. Though bonds of blood are strong, the bonds of love she formed with friends and animals were just as enduring.
Family gathered privately at Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home on August 11, 2025, to honor her life and memory. In lieu of flowers, she would have wished for donations to be made to an animal shelter of your choosing, in her honor.
Her family will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and love she shared. She will be missed beyond measure.
